SocialTix

The guide

How to use SocialTix

Set up your social, sell tickets, confirm payments and check guests in at the door. Here's how each part works.

Getting started

Signing in

Hosts sign in with Google, so there's no password to remember. Guests don't sign in at all: they buy tickets with their name and email.

You don't need to sign in before you start. Press Host a social and fill in the basics first. When you move on to tickets, we'll ask you to sign in, and everything you typed comes with you.

Setting up a social

Four steps

Setting up a social takes four steps, and each one saves as you finish it.

  • The basics

Name, date, when doors open, venue, street address, city, what it's for and a cover photo

  • Tickets

One or more ticket types, each with a name, a price and how many there are

  • Prizes

What's up for grabs and who donated it. Skip it for now if you like

  • Publish

A last check, then your social goes live

Ticket types

Ticket types let you sell tickets at different prices: an early bird, general admission, or a support ticket for people who can't come. Guests see “From $X” when there's more than one price.

Publishing

The Publish step is a checklist of what's left:

  • Ticket types. At least one.
  • How guests pay. E-transfer or card, set up and ready.
  • Prizes. Optional. You can add them any time, even after you publish.

Preview it as guests will see it, then press Publish. Until then it's a draft, and only you can see it. Once it's published, guests can find it and buy tickets, and you can share its link anywhere.

How guests pay

E-transfer

Guests send the money to the email address you give, and their order waits as pending until you confirm it. There's nothing to connect, and SocialTix never touches the money.

Card, through Stripe

Guests pay by card on Stripe and their order confirms by itself. Connect your Stripe account in the Publish step or in Settings. Stripe asks for some details about you and your bank before you can take cards.

SocialTix charges $0.50 per card order, and Stripe takes its own processing fee.

Your dashboard

At a glance

Your dashboard shows how sales are going across your socials, and what's left to set up:

  • Tickets sold, revenue from confirmed payments, and orders awaiting payment.
  • Finish setting up: drafts, and the step each one is on.
  • Published: your live socials, with past and cancelled ones below.

Managing a social

Open a social to find its pages:

  • Details. The basics, the cover photo and how guests pay.
  • Ticket types and Prizes. Add, edit, remove and reorder them.
  • Orders. Everyone who's bought tickets.
  • Check-in. The door scanner.

The details form and each ticket type and prize have a Save changes button. The cover photo, how guests pay and the order of ticket types and prizes save as soon as you change them. Guests see changes once they're saved.

Keeping on top of orders

The orders list

An order is one guest's purchase: however many tickets they bought, paid together, with one code. Each social's Orders page lists them with the guest, how many tickets, payment and check-in.

  • Search by name, email or order code, or filter by payment status.
  • Open an order to see the page the guest sees, QR code and all.
  • Refund an order that hasn't been checked in. Card payments go back through Stripe. E-transfers you send back yourself.
  • Download all orders as a spreadsheet.

Confirming e-transfers

  1. Your bank tells you an e-transfer has arrived.
  2. Open the social's Orders page and find the guest.
  3. Press Confirm payment. Their order is confirmed and they're on the list.

Checking guests in

At the door

  1. Open the social's Check-in page on a phone and start the camera.
  2. Scan the QR code on the guest's order page.
  3. The whole order checks in at once, and the screen shows Admits 4 (or however many) so you can count heads as the group walks in.

If the camera won't cooperate, type the order code instead. You'll also see when an order's already in, hasn't been paid, was refunded, or is for a different social. The Checked in card keeps count of how full the hall is.

Selling at the door

Someone who turns up without a ticket can buy one on your social's page from their phone, as long as a ticket type is still on sale. Their order shows up on your Orders page straight away.
